This past session, she co-wrote and helped champion landmark legislation to expand access to affordable healthcare coverage, support children's mental health, and bolster small business recovering from the pandemic. She has worked to improve our state's fiscal stability and create opportunities for residents and families of all ages and stages.

ABOUT CRISTIN
Cristin McCarthy Vahey has represented Connecticut's 133rd District since 2015.
Cristin is a social worker and community advocate. She is the daughter and granddaughter of military veterans and public servants who instilled deep patriotism and a passion for public service and bringing people together. Cristin’s experience includes intensive family preservation in the foster care system, serving as a youth minister, and working with kids in juvenile detention. She has held leadership roles in the League of Women Voters, Scouts, and the PTA, and she is a co-founder and a previous co-chair of the Fairfield CARES Community Coalition, which works to promote youth resiliency and prevent teen suicide and substance misuse.
In 2005 Cristin was elected to the first of three terms on Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting, where she served as Minority Leader, and in 2011 was elected to the Board of Selectmen, where she served until she became State Representative in 2015. Cristin received her B.A. in Economics and Government at the University of Notre Dame and her Master of Social Work at the University of Washington. She and her husband Brian, a U.S. Navy Veteran, have three children, two graduates of Fairfield Warde High School and one in Fairfield Public Schools.
